Summer Solstice

June 20:

Today marks the Summer Solstice. I remember being taught that this day is the longest day of the year. But there is more.

Traditional peoples saw this as one of the major Earth holidays in the "turning of the wheel". These peoples saw and see this day as a celebration that the cycles of Nature continue and their lives as peoples of this Planet, which were dependent on these cycles, would have the potential to continue as well. Our Western calendars are loosely based on these same holidays, while they may be called other names.

We 3 C's celebrate the life giving capacity of this Great Earth and see ourselves as tied to Her cycles. We pray our actions may be in synchrony with the Creator's Great Masterpiece and Great Gift of which we are simply a very small part.
