Since we moved to the Farm in 2007, most of our Stuff has remained in Boxes. Those Boxes were packed by many Helping Hands in the Weeks and Months before the Moving Van showed up outside our door up North. We had culled our belongings significantly in an attempt to live more simply and in anticipation of our new Life Style. We passed on stuff for which we saw no need to Thrift Stores, Libraries, Friends, Recycling Bins, whatever seemed right. We hardly threw anything away.
These days, we seem to be bumping into those Boxes of the Most Treasured of Items more and more. When we do, we have big grins on our Faces with the reconnection of some long lost Friends who have played significant roles in our Journeys. Melanie even proposed that for Christmas, we 3 C's just give a Box of Unopened Treasures to each of us for Christmas. We would be ecstatic.
In these almost 3 years, we 3 C's have worked a lot on Outside Projects: the Gardens, Orchard, Trails, Trees, Fencing, you name it. Focusing on Outside Projects has in many ways allowed us to "study" the little idiosyncrasies of our new Little Home, know what we need, and adjust.
We have attended to some big projects, including: tightening the Place up (replacement of Windows and Doors, Caulking), putting in the Rock Wall for the Wood Stove, replacing all major Appliances with more efficient models, replacing Heating/Air Conditioning Systems with more Energy Efficient Models, crafting a Pantry on the Main Floor. We certainly have not been sitting here idly twiddling our Thumbs.
Smaller projects are in the works, but all of it has taken considerable "study" to make the interior "work" for us. Financially, we can't do it all at once either.
We are now at a stage where we are beginning to focus on getting the House to work with the things that make our Spirits Soar. Melanie and I are Artists. We like and need our Art Stuff at our Finger Tips. Otherwise, it cramps our Style. I think Art Supplies at Our Fingertips will be happening soon. It won't be the Studio for which we yearn, but it will be quite workable.
We are tackling the Little Bedroom upstairs, which is becoming "multi-purpose Room": Meditation Space, Guest Bedroom, Craft Corner. The biggest challenge in that Room has been the Lady Beetles. Those exotic Creatures seem to have decided that their Winter Haven is that Little Bedroom. They think we are such marvelous Hosts. Or not.
I think we are making progress in our Lady Beetle reduction program, but that is going to take more sealing inside and out. It made no sense to do much with the room until the Lady Beetles gave up their Squatter's Rights and passed the Room over to us. I think we are closer to working out an arrangement.
Tonight, I worked on a Handmade Card for my Brother's Son. We love to make Handmade Treasures and it is very difficult to do with so much still in Boxes scattered on 3 Floors of our House. Well, it happened today. And we are beginning to set up some Craft Areas that work. I am so excited. I am just about beside myself.
I do not know what it is about Art that just makes my Spirit soar. But it does. Big time. Soon, those Art Supplies will be at my Finger Tips. And I will smile a big wide smile that has no Beginning and no End. It just goes on forever.
