Flyin'

The Garden is put to bed, except for the Leeks. Those Leeks seem perfectly content with the plummet in temperatures. They seem to be doing just fine without their Winter Coats, Scarves and Mittens, which is what we Humans need.

Yesterday, Melanie picked Tat Soi, Arugula, Mustard Greens, and Kale. She decided that she was done, tired, and ready for a Winter Break. Richard had drawn that conclusion the day before. This morning, the 2 of them noted that the Arugula left outside was frozen, as was the Parsley. We haven't checked the Lettuce. That was a good call to harvest yesterday.

Today was a day to continue processing. As I clatter away at these keys, the Pressure Canner is hovering at 11 Pounds Pressure and just above. I need to keep a close eye on it because we have 10 Pints of Venison Stew Meat inside. The Timer says I have 49 more minutes of the total of 75. I do not dare to stray too far as I cannot seem to find that perfect spot to keep it at 11 Pounds. Perhaps that was the Manufacturer's Design, as such things need to be watched closely. So I sit on the Red Retro 50s Chair in front while doing this little report.Jerky is in the plan too. Richard thinly sliced Venison for Jerky while Melanie made the Marinade. The Marinade and Venison are now doing their thing. She will begin drying it in the Dehydrator tomorrow.

Melanie dug through the Boxes and found 1 of the Sheep Skins we brought from up North. After airing it out, that Creamy Sheep Skin now graces the Rocker by the Windows overlooking the South Woods. The next step was to fix Tea from Lemon Grass shared by Christina yesterday.

A moment ago, Richard reported that we had Snow Flurries. As quick as we peered out to see them, they stopped. We are reminded that Snow Season is upon us. Winter can bless us with Snow Cover anytime He wants. We had better be ready.

Richard and Melanie are having lunch. That sounds like a good idea.

Melanie plans to process the Greens when the Canner is done. Things seem to be waiting in cue for their turn.

Overall, the 3 of us are very content and grateful with the Harvest, but we are tired. Today, we are flyin', but we also promise to put that same energy into Slow Down, Rest and Naps. Max has already found the Sheep Skin and is taking his turn. We may have to have a sign up sheet for this one. It's gonna be a hit.
