Intense Planting Day

June 4:

Today was a very hot day and an intense day for working in the Garden. Gratefully, the Soil is just right for the last round of planting as we go into Summer. Today was a "Flower Day". I have waited long for this one. Plants, Bulbs and Seedpacks were waiting too.

I began work just after the Sun came up today. It was simply beautiful. Quiet and serene. Richard joined me before he got ready to head off to commitments off the Farm today. He and I planted the 2 Old Rose Bushes that were gifted by 2 new friends: a 7 Sisters Rose and the Grandmother's Rose. Plus, we planted the Redbud which was a gift from Sarah and Ronnie Saltmarsh.

Melanie and I worked in the Garden as long as we could comfortably. We drank lots of water. We wore our Straw Hats and long sleeved light weight Cotton Shirts. The inside beckoned in the afternoon. I heard that voice loud and clear. When the Sun lost some of its intensity, we headed back to the Garden and we worked late in the Garden into the Evening.

Richard tended to Dinner, which was a relief. Melanie and I had no thoughts on Dinner. Our one track minds were full. After Dinner, Richard later came out to pick Strawberries. As if planting isn't enough, those wonderful Strawberries are ready again. Plus, they will need immediate processing. We'll all 3 work on this and it will go fast.

We worked as late as we could outside. At one point, it would have been fun for each of us to have a camera. We were each doing different things in different parts of the Garden. Melanie was finishing planting Peppers, I was planting Flowers, and Richard was picking Strawberries.

After Melanie and I put our Gardening Tools away, we headed inside, following Richard with the containers of Strawberries. Then we 3 C's hulled the Strawberries and put them on trays for the Freezer. Tomorrow, we will bag them up for the coming months. This night will bring a very good and I think well deserved rest.
